Captain S teaser

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

To the family and friends that check this blog, I wish you the awesomest holidays EVAR. Here's hoping that you get to hang with that one special person, or recieve that one special thing. Or make somebody's day! That's always a great feeling.

Here's to special times.

Now, the meats: CAPTAIN S, episode 1 is 9 minutes long right now, and it's rough cut, baby.

My holday gift to you, faithful internets, is this Teaser Intro to Captain S.

Enjoy.

BTW

I shot alot of promo pictures for Shael's presskit, which are thigh-slapping hilarious.

Check out the raw here.

last day in NYC

The past week I've spent right here in front of the computer, my eyeballs slowly burning out of their sockets and causing mad headaches.

The good news is that I've accomplished much in that span! The rough cut of Episode 1 is already up to 7 minutes, which is scary when compared to Episode 3, which we cut in half to keep some sort of time constraints (it's still much longer than 1). I am very pleased with the results thus far - especially with the camera that we used.

It's a miniature Panasonic DVcam that Z and I picked up for $500 at Circuit City over the summer. Our plan was to use it as a deck for tape playback, nothing more. We wound up using it over Devon's more expensive SONY DVcam - it was more reliable and something was screwed up with the SONY's whitebalance. Even though there's no physical way to connect an external mic to it, I think the sound has been pretty great thus far - in fact, everything has been pretty comparable to a certain PD-150 I've used in the past.

Saw Shael and Devon perform in their last show before MAGfest last night at FatBaby. I won't give anything away, but let's just say that the MAG material they tried out was a-w-e-s-o-m-e. Some real geek-pleasers in there.

ANyway, back to the grindstone. Matt Reis is in the living room reading a book and I am editing up a storm=

This week I'll be working on Captain S post-production, so expect some updates - I'll be around my computer all week.

I learned today that thinking of your age in dog years is way better than waking up and being scared that you might be turning 30. Or 40. That being said, I am officially 3.7 years old, in dog years. I'd say that's pretty good! Some dogs live to be 15, so I have a very long life ahead of me.

night before the shoot v.3

It's the night before yet another Captain S shoot, and I'm frickin excited!

After a week of planning, worrying, bumbling...it's all going to be worth it when we step into the school's glass doors tomorrow and show them extras what we're made of. Just as last time, Z won't be on set to lend a hand, but I'm confident that we three men can handle production. Brett wrangled some more extras last-minute tonight, so at best we'll have six people to play in our backgrounds. From 0, to 3, and now a potential 6, we keep growing and growing.

I'll honestly be pretty relieved when this weekend is over; from here on out I can concentrate on doing post-production and getting the company ready for the premiere. Our cards are on the table...all we need now is a little Energon, and a lot of luck.

This blog has, as of late, become more like a 'notepad' of inspiring movie clips and links.

!

hey world.

Soooo, pretty soon I'll have all the free time in the world YYYEEAAAAAHHH!

...and all that free time will be used to do post for Captain S by MAGfest, which, if you're keeping close watch, will be the World Premiere of the first three episodes.

Tomorrow is my last day on P.S. I Love You. I wound up missing the wrap party (it was a week early, bizarre) to stay late at our weekly PBC production meeting, which everyone that I explain this to says was a good choice. I concur. We're going to film episode 3 on Saturday with everyone taking on new positions or responsibilities. I'll post more about that (with pics, I swears) tomorrow!

behold, mine Internets

Pop-Up Sex!

Today was one of my only hard-working, long days on PS I <3 You. We were filming on a cold, Meat Market street with 200 extras. I basically helped run Holding all day, with some great help from a new PA friend and, of course, Clem. Melissa, who was the official BG PA, actually has her 600 days in with DGA, but can't get enough work as a 2nd 2nd and has to work PA gigs to pay the rent. I wish her the best of luck in finding her next big gig...she was a great help and a really nice person. Her example really shows the ugly side of becoming DGA - you either get lucky and advance straight to the top, or mill about in the trenches with not alot of job choices for a long time.

Stop-motion fight!!

Tomorrow, I start scouting for Episode 3 of Captain S. Maybe I'll even cook up a logo for our pins, or contact more potential crew members, or call Brenden, and have time to draw up a potential storyboard! Yeah! How bout I actually do that? Fine! I think I will.

Videogames and Hampsters

seriously good, or born out of boredom?

no more spiders

More PS I Love You stage days this week, leaving me to do more Captain S stuff...and thanks to our awesome PBC Productions team meeting, I won't have crazy nightmares about spiders the night before a shoot!@

For Episode 3, I'll be DP and Locations, which in itself is a load of work. Working with 0 dollars is way harder than working with -some- dollars.

btw, slap a counterfiet Mini victim.
